Meet the Owner!

 Kaya Maraya Silkiss-Hero, who owns a home in Friday Harbor on San Juan Island, originally from Lopez Island, WA, is a local islander from the San Juan Islands who does big things with a small-town touch. 

Kaya is an ambitious woman who has pursued many goals in education and business. She has been managing the care of real estate properties since she was 23 years old. She owns a diverse General Contractor construction company specializing in a complete spectrum of services from building to janitorial, remodels to landscaping, professional packing to complex long-distance moving.

Kaya does it all! She has many previous clients, has been on the show Hoarders, and held numerous government contracts!

Kaya is a proud, biracial American woman and is honored to work with boots on the ground!!

Kaya takes wisdom from many experiences, and it comes to life in her confidence and ability to navigate the complex logistics, which vary from project to project. 

Kaya's experiences as a contractor and property manager have shaped her into the well-rounded individual she is today. She has worked on various projects, including unique locations and challenging materials, making her adaptability an asset to any project.

In addition to her construction skills, which are complimented by her childhood of growing up on a farm, surrounded by the Salish seas and being the daughter of hardworking parents - Kaya also holds degrees in equine psychotherapy, Native American studies, and chemical dependency counseling as well as certificates in welding, dentistry, ropes course facilitation and is working on her Health Care Assistant license as well as planning to start EMT classes in 2024

Along with these, she also has an excellent working relationship with the local tradespeople while continuously adapting to the ongoing changes in the region. Don't worry; while she enjoys working locally, she does travel for work. 

Kaya is well-versed and educated in the construction industry- the ongoing challenges of finding the correct people, unique locations, material challenges, building departments, permits, code enforcement, architectural design, engineering, landscaping, and so much more!

Kaya is a ‘hands-on business owner’ who takes great pride in providing a high standard for her clients and honoring her island culture and community.

Kaya is an advocate for empowering people, especially women. People often think of her as a motivational speaker or inspiring because of her personal success story. She drives a diesel Duramax truck and has a Facebook page filled with positivity and tough-girl quotes, such as "wє lívє tσ crєαtє, tσ σvєrcσmє, tσ єndurє, tσ trαnѕfσrm, tσ lσvє & tσ вє grєαtєr thαn σur ѕuffєríng"

Kaya thought as a young child that she would grow up to be a Veterinary or a Judge - she continues to show her love of Justice and the Planet Earth & has a One Love mindset for all.

Kaya honors her beliefs through her other businesses as an accomplished photographer and Maine coon cattery breeder. Both of these keep her busy with a vibrant life full of fun responsibilities in addition to running her contracting company, volunteering, and continuing education.
